Within Dudley Trading Standards there is a team of Staff dedicated to supporting people who have been targeted by Scams. The Scams Unit. The role of the unit is to spread awareness of scams and support those who have been victim of scams. Scams can come in many forms such as: Phone calls, text messages, e-mails, letters (post), doorstep callers (rogue traders).
The Scams Unit aim to support individuals who have experienced Scams, often this is done by visiting people in their homes. The team give public talks to raise scam awareness and also deliver training packages for those who work with the public or in supportive role. The Scams Unit have encouraged DMBC to become a 'Friends against Scams' Organisation. This is a national initiative led by the National Trading Standards Team to raise awareness of Scams and 'Take a Stand against Scam'.
