Dudley MBC has a new dementia Hub based in Halesowen. This was formerly the Brett Young Day centre but is now taking on a new role as the base for the Dementia Advisor Team and the Dudley memory service.
Dementia Advisors aim to support people living with dementia and their Carers, Families and Friends who may provide the person with care and support. They work across the five townships that make up the Dudley Borough and provide expert information and advice about how to live well with Dementia. They can signpost and connect people diagnosed with Dementia and their carers to a range of services suited to individual needs and requirements. Where appropriate an assessment for a personal budget can be completed. This is a sum of Money which can pay for a day placement at the Crystal Gateway Dementia Centre.
The Hub provides a drop in centre for advice and information where there will be a dementia Advisor available between 10am and 3pm Monday to Friday. People living with dementia in Dudley, their Carers, Friends and families can drop in and ask any questions about the journey of dementia and obtain information and advice about services which may be relevant to your situation.
The centre is aimed at people who are living with dementia in the community and who are at an earlier stage of Dementia. We are aspiring to have a number of groups and activities beneficial to the dementia journey, taking place. This is likely to Include Dementia Cafes, Sessions for carer support and activities options for people with dementia to attend with their Carers and socialise with others.
Once developed we will be taking the Dementia Hub Model on the road and developing township groups across Dudley so watch this space for one coming near you soon.
No referral is needed to ask for help from a Dementia Advisor. Simply give us a call or send us an email.
