Dudley Self Management Programme offers the Expert Patients Programme (EPP) which is a free six week course (once a week for six consecutive weeks) for people living with long-term health conditions. EPP aims to help you take more control of your health by learning new skills to manage your health condition better on a day to day basis. It is a great opportunity to meet others in a similar situation and exchange tips and ideas around ways to cope.
We also run a Looking After Me (LAM) and Dementia specific Looking After Me courses (DLAM)- the latter two courses are for carers of someone with a long term health condition. Specifically, it looks at how you can better cope with the emotional and practical effects of your caring role. It’s a good opportunity to learn new ways of managing your caring role. The course is about you making time to look after your own health needs and aims to help you to take more control of your caring situation and make a difference to your life. By taking part in a LAM or DLAM course you will learn new skills to help manage your caring situation, develop confidence and meet other carers who are in similar situations and share experiences and ideas.
Courses can also be delivered in a number of community languages, such as Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu.
